Pivot Steer Conversion Course Training
We offer fully accredited or in-house Pivot Steer Conversion Course training throughout West Sussex, East Sussex, Hampshire & London. The Pivot Steer Conversion Course can be ITSSAR accredited or In-House and are fully recognised by the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) and provide candidates with the relevant practical skills and knowledge required to correctly yet safely operate a wide variety of Pivot Steer Forklift Trucks within the workplace.
Optimum Forklift Training Services can provide Pivot Steer forklift training for all industry sectors, private individuals and corporate clients as well as conversions from a foreign licence to UK accreditation or in-house certification to the ACOP L117 standards.
As with all available courses we can train anywhere within the UK onsite. We also cover all shift patterns for your convenience including night shift training and weekends at no extra cost.
Pivot Steer Novice Training
The Pivot Steer Novice Training course are for candidates with no previous experience. This course will run from 3 to 5 days depending on the number of candidates with a maximum training ratio of 3 candidates per instructor.
Pivot Steer Refresher Training
The Pivot Steer Refresher Course is for candidates who need to refresh their skills after expiry of accreditation or due to an accident or incorrect operating as deemed by employers. This is a 1 day course with a maximum training ratio of 3 candidates per instructor.
Pivot Steer Experience Training
The Pivot Steer Conversion Course is for candidates who wish to convert from another accreditation to the counterbalance lift truck. This course is a 1 day course and requires the candidates to have trained previously on another machine type to qualify.
About the Pivot Steer Refresher Course
Our ITSSAR Fork Lift Truck Operator Course – Conversion (Pivot Steer) delivers a minimum of 1 day of instruction and is designed to instruct up to a maximum of 3 delegates , providing the skills needed to operate the Pivot Steer forklift truck safely and efficiently, carry out a pre-use inspection & recall and explain the causes of truck and load instability.
This course is perfect for forklift operators who have previously completed other lift truck training on another machine type and have experience using it. As this truck can be challenging for some operators we would always advise 2 days training – the ITSSAR course complies with the standards set out in accordance with the HSE Code of Practice L117 (ACOP). This course enables successful operators to use any Pivot Steer forklift up to a 5000 kg lifting capacity (with authorisation) anywhere within the UK.

Course title:
Pivot Steer Basic Conversion and Test Course
Course aim:
To provide refresher training and update the basic skill requirements and associated job safety knowledge to existing certificated operators of industrial forklift trucks.
Course elements:
The course will comprise theoretical and practical instruction covering the following:-
- Responsibilities under the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974, PUWER 98 & LOLER 98
- Operators Safety Code
- Operator pivot steer safety video
- Battery maintenance and charging procedures / refuelling procedures
- Pre-use checks
- Factors affecting stability
- Motive controls
- Hydraulic controls
- Manoeuvring in open and confined areas
- Stacking at different levels including Racking, Bulk Stacks & Corner Posts if available.
- De-stacking with laden and unladen pallets
- Lorry loading and unloading
Knowledge:
On completion of training candidates will have a theoretical understanding of the following:-
- Responsibilities under the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974, PUWER 98 & LOLER 98.
- Operators safety code
- Battery maintenance and charging procedures / refueling procedures
- Pre-use checks
- Factors affecting stability
- Stacking and destacking in open and confined areas
- Lorry loading and unloading
Operator Skill:
On completion of training the candidate will be able to:-
- Drive and operate the lift truck safely and efficiently
- Stack and destack at various levels in a safe and competent manner
- Carry out pre-use checks to ensure the equipment is in a safe condition
- Carry out battery maintenance and charging procedures
- Load and unload vehicles
Who should attend this course:
Delegates who hold or have evidence of basic skills certification on another machine type with experience of use. Refresher courses are advised for every 3-5 years depending on your supervision and driving standards audit, accidents etc would be sooner.
Course duration:
This course is typically between 5 and 7.5 hours (1 day) dependent on the number of trainees attending the course, for this machine type we would advise a minimum of 2 days. ITSSAR accredited courses for lift trucks are strictly a maximum of 3 delegates to one instructor on one machine to ensure the training meets the Approved Code of Practice L117.
Certification:
Successful delegates will receive a Conversion Test certificate of basic skill and ability endorsed by ITSSAR with their registration number to the Trained Operator Passport Scheme (TOPS)
In-house certificates can be used as an alternative upon request.
